PT Pardic Jaya Chemicals (PJC) successfully held its Kaizen Convention in 2025. This year’s convention introduced a new and refreshing concept, combining presentation sessions, exhibition showcases, and sharing best practices, making it the first major transformation of the Kaizen Convention format since it was first conducted 26 years ago.

With the theme “Think Safety, Act Kaizen”, the convention emphasized that Kaizen is not merely an event, but a mindset and daily operational practice contributing to long-term operational excellence.

About the New Concept

Unlike previous conventions that focused mainly on presentation performances, the new concept allowed employees to experience Kaizen more holistically. Through exhibition booths, participants and visitors were able to see, understand, and directly engage with improvement initiatives implemented across departments.

This approach enabled knowledge sharing to move beyond presenters and judges, allowing all employees to feel involved, inspired, and connected to the spirit of continuous improvement.

Beyond the convention stage, employee engagement in continuous improvement was also reflected through the Suggestion System (SS) program, which reached a new participation record in 2025.

A total of 811 improvement suggestions were submitted by 115 eligible employees, demonstrating a strong commitment to Kaizen at the individual level. This achievement highlights how Kaizen has moved beyond formal events and become part of employees’ daily mindset.

In his keynote speech, President Director, Mr. Katsutoshi Nakatani, emphasized that Kaizen must live beyond the convention stage:

“Improvement activities do not end at the Kaizen Convention. They must continue in our daily operational activities. With this new concept, the convention becomes a turning point where all employees can experience, see, and inspire one another through Kaizen.”

Both messages clearly reflected top management’s strong commitment to ensuring Kaizen delivers measurable value and sustainability for the organization.

Exchange of Ideas through Best Practice Sharing

A key highlight of the convention was the Best Practice Sharing session delivered by Mr. Dwi Nanto Utomo from PT DIC Graphics Indonesia. His participation strengthened cross-entity collaboration within DIC Group, emphasizing the value of learning beyond organizational boundaries. He shared his appreciation for the invitation and the opportunity to learn from PJC’s Kaizen implementation:

“We truly appreciate the opportunity to be invited and to learn from Kaizen implementation at PT Pardic Jaya Chemicals. Overall, the event and the atmosphere were excellent. We really enjoyed the program from morning until afternoon.” Regarding continued collaboration, he elaborated “We hope PJC continues to succeed in its Kaizen implementation. We are open for discussion regarding Kaizen, and we also need new insights so that continuous improvement can be sustained and become a true company culture.”

An interesting exchange of philosophies was highlighted through the respective mottos:

  • PT DIC Graphics Indonesia: “Improvement Started with ‘I’ (I = Me)”
  • PT Pardic Jaya Chemicals: “Think Safety, Act Kaizen”

The synergy between these perspectives provided valuable inspiration for future collaboration across DIC Group entities.

As a token of appreciation, Mr. Katsutoshi Nakatani and Mr. Harry D. Munaf presented a special commemorative placard to the PT DIC Graphics Indonesia team, symbolizing mutual respect and partnership. The gesture also served as a sincere acknowledgment of PT DICG’s commitment to sharing valuable best practices with PJC employees.

Behind the Success: Strong Cross-Department Collaboration

The successful execution of Kaizen Convention 2025 was made possible through the hard work and dedication of the organizing committee, spearheaded by the HR–IMS Unit as the central coordinator and accountable function.

Introducing a completely new concept after 26 years required extensive preparation, coordination, and collaboration. The HR–IMS Unit expressed sincere appreciation to:

  • Committee members from various departments who contributed beyond their daily responsibilities
  • Management for their strong support and direction
  • All convention participants for their outstanding efforts and commitment
  • All employees who attended, engaged with the exhibition, and drew inspiration from the improvements showcased

This collaboration demonstrated that Kaizen is not owned by one department but is a shared responsibility across the organization.

Kaizen as a Way of Life

Kaizen Convention 2025 is not the end of the journey, but a new beginning. With stronger engagement, broader visibility, and cross-entity collaboration, PJC aims to further embed Kaizen into daily operations driving safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.

As PJC continues its Kaizen journey, the company remains committed to fostering a culture where every employee is empowered to improve, inspired by the shared belief:

“Think Safety, Act Kaizen.”
